About Urban Paws K9

Balanced dog training in the GTA

Who We Are

Servicing the Greater Toronto Area, Urban Paws K9 provides private in-home dog training. We teach owners and dogs in their own homes and neighbourhoods to reduce anxiety while learning new skills and replicate real life daily routine.

At Urban Paws K9 we focus on building the relationship between dog and owner by establishing clear and effective communication. Using balanced dog training methods we help owners and dogs build their confidence with themselves and each other.

What We Do

Urban Paws K9 teaches obedience and one-command response to dogs of all ages and backgrounds. With clear and effective communication, dogs learn to focus on their owner, walk with a loose leash, stay when commanded, and come when called.

Building solid obedience with one-command response and creating clear expectations for dogs reduces and removes reactivity, builds confidence, and makes for a happy life.

Nerhys Hall

Master Dog Trainer

With nearly two decades of teaching experience and a lifetime full of animals, Nerhys found her passion for dog training in 2018.

Nerhys began her dog training career apprenticing with Eric Straetmans. The apprenticeship allowed Nerhys hands-on experience teaching both private and group lessons at Eric’s school, Beyond the Leash. After completing the apprenticeship, Nerhys continues to teach novice and advanced level group lessons at Beyond the Leash in addition to her own private clients.

Working at Beyond the Leash exposed Nerhys to a vast array of different dog breeds, sizes, and temperaments. She knows how to customize training based on each dog’s needs. Nerhys also volunteers at the Etobicoke Humane Society and knows how to handle the unique needs of rescues and dogs who have spent time in shelters.

When not training dogs, Nerhys often spends her time riding horses, hiking with her husband and their dog Artemis, or listening to and writing about new music for radio legend Alan Cross’ blog. An eclectic upbringing gave Nerhys a wide range of hobbies and interests, including: martial arts, rugby, music and music history of all kinds, cross-stitching, horse back riding, radio and podcasts, and reading.

You can hear Nerhys talk dogs and dog training with Eric on many episodes of the Beyond the Leash podcast. New episodes air every Tuesday.
